Abacci Bazaar

About Abacci Bazaar

Abacci Bazaar is the part time project I took up to fill in time between jobs. When I started to build the Bazaar I had in mind a standard eMall: muzac, bright lights and a bunch of affiliate links. As I worked on the site I started to feel the same dislike for it as I have for real-world shopping centers. There was too much packaging and not enough content, so I tinkered around for a while and the Bazaar evolved into what you see today - a blend of shopping links, reviews and web master's code.

I'm much better at combining data feeds than producing shopper friendly web environments, so you'll find the bazaar has an unusual site structure. This was dictated more by my mis-spent youth than any sound marketing theory - on the other hand, the world might just be ready for a navigation structure based on a text based adventure game :-)

Of late, financial necessity has seen me converting web sites from expenses to revenue streams without making them too ugly along the way. To my surprise this has sometimes even added value to the site for its visitors too. This has been quite a learning experience which I've tried to share here too.

I hope you enjoy your visit to the Bazaar - poke around, fly the carpet and see if you can't find some souvenir to take back home with you :-)
