eBay Reseller Relevance

Abacci > Bazaar > Webmasters > Affiliations > eBay > Relevance Statistics

Next to some topic headings you'll find a percentage indicating its relevance on eBay. The number is derived from a snapshot I took of the eBay listings and represents the number of items listed for sale as a percentage of all items in the topic's group.

An example from the Antiquities topic section might make this a bit easier to picture:

When the snapshot was taken there were 419 items listed in the Egyptian Antiquities section. Grouped together under antiquities were also Asian, Greek, Roman, the Americas and Other. Adding together the totals for all these sections gave a total of 7759 items for Antiquities, meaning our Egyptian topic had 5% of the total for the Antiquities section.

So what does it mean?

If you're looking for a web development topic to concentrate on, the reseller interest will highlight those areas where the most sales are going through, and (in a market driven sort of way) those areas where the most buyers are too. In other words it's an indicator of which areas you might profitably invest your web development time.

Please note: this is just an indicator, not a hard and fast rule. The number of items in each area will vary over time, and what you see here is just a snapshot. Also, the percentages will only give you a comparison against other categories in the specific topic family, but not across topics. For that sort of comparison you're better off using the Google pagecount method as outlined in the Affiliate's Masters Course eBook
